Louis Mitchell, PE, from NCDOT Division 10 will give a presentation discussing the status of current and future NCDOT projects in our region.

Louis Mitchell is the Division Engineer for the 10th Highway Division of the North Carolina Department of Transportation, comprised of more than 500 employees in five counties (Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Union, Stanly, and Anson). He oversees a range of endeavors relating to infrastructure and multimodal transportation in and surrounding Charlotte, North Carolina’s largest city.

Mr. Mitchell’s career with NCDOT began as an Engineer Associate in 1992. He has since held positions as Assistant Resident Engineer, Resident Engineer, District Engineer, and Division Construction Engineer. His diverse experience facilitates positive interactions with citizens and elected officials at the local, state, and federal levels.

Mr. Mitchell has served more than 25 years in the United States Army Reserve. He is just completing a short tour to Korea supporting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pacific Division. Additionally he was just selected for Colonel and will be assigned to the 416th Theater Engineer Command, Darien Illinois. He served in Iraq from April 2006-July 2007 during Operation Iraqi Freedom and has received eleven service medals (to include the Meritorious Service Medal & the Bronze Star), decorations and badges over the course of his tenure.

Louis has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Clemson University. He has a Masters of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle Pennsylvania. He is a registered Professional Engineer with the State of North Carolina, and is a National Certified Public Manager. He is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Society of American Military Engineers.

This will be a joint meeting with WTS Charlotte Metro Chapter and is open only to members of either ASHE or WTS. If you are not yet a member but would like to attend, please join ASHE CPS by clicking here, or WTS Charlotte by clicking here.

The cost is just $30 for members who pay or RSVP before the day of meeting. A $10 surcharge will be added for walk-ins on the day of the event. Please note, walk-ins will only be accepted if they are members or if they join either organization at the meeting. Lunch will be provided and PDHs will be available upon request.
